This course specifies the knowledge and skills weapons licence applicants require for the lawful, responsible and safe use of a various categories of firearms and other weapons for occupational purposes, sports or target shooting and recreational pursuits, including firearms collection and historical demonstrations and military re-enactments. The Weapons Categories Regulation 1997 provides a list of weapons that fall within the various weapons categories.

On successful completion, you will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the core unit and the elective category/ies completed (e.g., A/B, C, D, H). This evidence is used when applying for a Queensland firearms licence. Training is delivered at NSTA Hillcrest in Brisbane, combining classroom theory with supervised practical components.
